Indeed’s Sponsored Jobs API usage policy
Indeed enforces a Sponsored Jobs API usage policy. Effective February 1, 2026 in EU markets, GB, CH, CA, AU, NZ, ID, IN, BR, PH, CL, SG, CO, TH, CR, MY, MX, and PA; effective December 1, 2024 in the US.
This usage policy enhances job fulfillment and creates a more equitable marketplace. The policy modernizes the API infrastructure to align with industry best practices and helps to prevent misuse and ensure fair access.
This usage policy protects the Indeed infrastructure from an automated process that uses the API in an inappropriate way. Excessive requests from an API might result from a harmless typo, or might result from an inefficiently designed system that makes needless API calls. Regardless of the cause, blocking traffic from a specific source once it reaches a certain level is necessary for the overall health of the Indeed job advertising system. It ensures that one advertiser's actions cannot negatively impact the larger community.
This policy requires Indeed Sponsored Jobs API users in the US, as Indeed determines, to pay for API usage based on job sponsorship spend. API usage is rate-limited based on customer spend. The API is available to paying customers only.
At the end of every billing cycle, customers pay the greater value, which is either:
- The monthly Sponsored Jobs API campaign spend, or
- Total monthly API call cost
Further, Indeed implements an API call limit to prevent accidental misuse or large, unplanned charges. Indeed enforces the API call limit on a calendar-month basis, and limits the maximum number of API calls on an advertiser ID basis.
The first $50 or equivalent in the advertiser’s selected billing currency of monthly API call costs is waived.
| Payment method | To calculate the API call limit |
|---|---|
| Credit card | Indeed takes the prior month’s Sponsored Jobs spend OR credit limit, whichever method provides the higher number of API calls, and divides this amount by $3 per call. |
One of these methods:
| Indeed takes the prior month’s Sponsored Jobs spend OR credit limit OR IO balance at the beginning of the month, whichever method provides the higher number of API calls, and divides this amount by $3 per call. |
Indeed charges all APIs, even free-of-charge APIs, if you call them in employer scope.
Scenario example
In this scenario:
- $450 was spent last month on Sponsored Jobs.
- The current credit limit is $400.
Because the Sponsored Jobs spend ($450) last month exceeds the current credit limit ($400), Sponsored Jobs spend is used to calculate the maximum number of API calls allowed in the current month.
| Item | Charge |
|---|---|
| Last month’s Sponsored Jobs spend | $450 |
| Advertiser ID credit limit | $400 |
| This month’s API call limit | [Maximum($450,$400)]/[$3 per call] = 150 calls |
While this policy is a global policy, the rollout is staggered across geographies.

Monthly billing
To calculate the bill for API calls at the end of each month, these values are compared:
| Value | Description |
|---|---|
|
|
| |
If value 1 is less than value 2, the customer is not charged an additional amount for the API calls.
If value 1 exceeds value 2, the customer is charged the difference.
The customer is the billing entity on record that accesses the API.
The first $50 or the equivalent in the selected billing currency of API call costs is waived. This value is automatically removed prior to invoice generation. No additional action is needed to receive the $50 fee waiver.
Examples
Scenario 1 example
In this scenario, 150 API calls are made in the month.
Because the total API call cost is less than the Sponsored Jobs monthly and lifetime campaigns spend, the customer is not charged an additional amount for the API calls.
| Item | Charge |
|---|---|
| Sponsored Jobs monthly and lifetime campaigns spend | $500 |
Total API call cost ( | $450 |
| Monthly bill for API calls | $450 - $50 fee waiver = $400 |
Scenario 2 example
In this scenario, 200 API calls are made in the month.
Because the total API call cost exceeds the Sponsored Jobs monthly and lifetime campaigns spend, the customer is charged the difference between those values.
| Item | Charge |
|---|---|
| Sponsored Jobs monthly and lifetime campaigns spend | $200 |
Total API call cost ( | $600 |
| Monthly bill for API calls | $600 - $50 fee waver = $550 |
The Detailed billing report shows the monthly bill for API calls is $600, as follows:
- Sponsored Jobs monthly and lifetime campaigns spend:
$200 - Total API call cost:
$350
